Matt Jahn

Matthew Train Jahn was born in Maryland in 1983. Seven years and a little sister later, Matt experienced a life-changing event that leaves many people speechless.  On February 7, 1991, the plane that Matt’s dad had flown him in so many times before had crashed down.  Matt was left injured, but more significantly, heartbroken after receiving the news that his parents had passed away.  Shortly after, Matt moved to Chicago to live with his aunt and uncle.  There he played soccer & dedicated his life to being a Cubs fan (he bleeds blue & red!)  He loved Chicago, but felt there was more out there for him to discover. He was accepted into The University of Colorado, Boulder, where he went to find the next stage of his life.

Although college was not for Matt, he found the best things he has in life during those early days in Boulder.  Working for the original Fatty J’s Pizza, it was here that Matt Jahn met Matt Moen. Although he was loving being in Boulder, Matt felt the urge for a new adventure, so he moved back to Chicago, where he welcomed his amazing son, Kenny.  Matt decided to venture to Auburn, NY to re-connect with close family & friends. After a short time in Auburn, Matt felt that CO was still his home at heart, and he returned to a place so familiar to him:  Boulder, CO. His dreams were falling into place, and re-opening Fatty J’s was next on his list.  He teamed up with his long time buddy & together they worked hard to re-open the original ‘Fatty J’s Pizza’. If you ever see a big teddy bear guy at Fatty J’s, that’s my brother and I want everyone to know how amazing he really is.

Matt Moen

Matthew Jon Moen was born in Forest Lake, MN in 1979, the youngest of 4 siblings. All his life he grew up on the lakes, adventuring in water sports, soccer, fishing, snowmobiling, snowboarding & anything he could find to cause a little trouble. In early 2000, Matt felt there was something more for him than the small town life, and he moved out to Boulder, CO with his girlfriend Kellie. He began working for Fatty J’s Pizza in 2001, working his way up from driver to manager.  It was then that Matt & Kellie welcomed their beautiful daughter, Nevaeh Angelique Marie, into the world. The following year Matt & Kellie were married, and residing in Lafayette, CO.

In 2006 the era of ‘Fatty J’s’ eventually came to an end.  Matt, along with his good friend, owner of the restaurant & his back-country snowboarding buddy, Jay Luckenbach, decided to open a similar business under the name ‘Skinny Jay’s.’ After the 2 year adventure & jazz excitement of Skinny Jay’s, Matt  teamed up with his long time best bud Matt Jahn to re-open the Boulder  historic pizza shop known today around the country – and in smoke shops in Amsterdam – as ‘Fatty J’s Pizza.’
